Summer holidays are a teacher's reward for the work that immerses their every moment throughout the rest of the year......and always after 10 years of teaching I wonder why my workload is so often unbalanced and ponder during my summer break ways to make it more streamlined and manageable..
Yet the length of the summer break invigorates and ignites my teaching and learning passion ready for a new year and more so each year with my PLN connections and inspirations discovered online.
So thinking about my new class, the changes in my school with a new Principal and AP, the talk of Modern Learning Environments and the impact this will have on my teaching, my students, the nitty gritty of what it actually means!
It is a great time for reflection without the day to day deadlines and meetings and other thoughts that overcrowd my mind during the rest of the year.
So to me when you reflect back on this blog post later in the year....I am relaxed, I have been going to the gym regularly, I read every night before sleeping, I have been enjoying a wine or two in the afternoon and I have been meeting with friends for lunch! So hang in there I imagine you are experiencing change, learning and connecting with new students, catching up on emails and paperwork and building relationships with new colleagues......just remember it is okay to breathe, smile and enjoy a career you are passionate about, relax your shoulders!!
